Description
Overview of Communication Management Unit
- The ASM-81H Communication Management Unit is an essential part of substation integrated automation system, applicable to 110kV and below substations.
- It mainly collects on-site data of the entire power distribution automation system and transmits it to local background system or remote dispatching master station. Meanwhile, it forwards commands from background and master station to various measurement and control devices to realize local and remote control.
- It supports data interaction with bay-level devices, protocol conversion, central signal processing and other functions.

Main Functions of RTU
This device receives protection data, remote signaling, remote measuring values and electric energy data uploaded from all functional modules, and forwards remote commands including time synchronization, remote control, remote regulation, parameter setting and fault wave recording issued by dispatching terminals.
- Build and manage communication links with all types of microcomputer protection devices;
- Realize data transmission with measuring & control equipment and smart power meters;
- Support connection with substation intelligent auxiliary facilities such as DC power supply systems;
- Achieve stable communication interaction with substation host computer systems;
- Complete remote telecontrol data transmission and docking with centralized control centers, fully matching Modbus-RTU communication rules;
- Real-time monitor and check the online communication status of all connected equipment and devices;
- Support remote parameter configuration and daily equipment maintenance via network communication.
Main Features
- Equipped with high-performance 32-bit ARM main control processor with maximum operating frequency up to 72MHz, the advanced hardware platform ensures outstanding data processing and protocol parsing capability.
-
It is configured with up to 6 Ethernet ports, 6 CAN interfaces and 24 RS-232/RS-485 serial ports to meet multi-device access demands.
-
It supports flexible and diversified protocol processing modes, which can be connected with radio stations, power line carrier equipment to realize synchronous and asynchronous communication at different baud rates. It is compatible with IEC61850, CDT, 1801, 101, 104, 103 and widely-used Modbus-RTU protocols, realizing seamless docking with various RTU unit devices.
-
Adopting industrial-grade reliable design, it optimizes internal components and connector structure, owning strong shock resistance and vibration resistance. It can work steadily under severe electromagnetic interference environments with working temperature ranging from -25℃ to +60℃. All indexes including insulation withstand voltage and anti-interference performance fully conform to IEC international standards.

FAQ
Q:what is rtu remote terminal unit
A:The RTU transmission unit is the core module within an RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) responsible for data communication. It transmits telemetry and telecontrol data collected on-site to the dispatch master station via channels such as 4G, 5G, Ethernet, or fiber optics, while simultaneously receiving downlink remote control and remote adjustment commands. Essentially, an RTU combines “data acquisition, control, and transmission” into a single unit. If only pure transparent transmission is required, a DTU (Data Transmission Unit) should be selected; the two are often confused but serve different purposes.
