Main Functions

The ASM-83 can receive protection, tele-signaling, telemetry and energy data uploaded by various modules, and forward remote commands from the dispatch center such as time synchronization, remote control, remote regulation, setting modification and wave recording.

a) Communicate with and manage various microcomputer protection devices.

b) Communicate with and manage various measurement & control devices and smart electricity meters.

c) Communicate with and manage intelligent auxiliary equipment in substations, such as DC power supplies.

d) Communicate with and manage the host computer system of the substation.

e) Communicate with the remote control center and realize telecontrol communication.

f) Inspect and monitor the communication status of all connected equipment and devices.

g) Realize configuration and maintenance via network communication.

Main Features

The ASM-83 uses a 32-bit ARM processor with a clock speed up to 72MHz. Its high-performance hardware architecture ensures powerful data processing capability.
It can provide up to 6 Ethernet ports, 6 CAN ports and 24 serial ports (RS-232/RS-485), to be specified when ordering.
It is equipped with 64KB of non-volatile FRAM (retains data after power failure).
The protocol processing module is highly flexible. It can connect to radio stations, carrier equipment and other devices to support synchronous and asynchronous communication at various baud rates. It supports one or two of the following protocols: ML2000, CDT, 1801, IEC101, N4F, IEC104, IEC103.
Via “intelligent interface modules”, it connects to intelligent devices from other manufacturers, providing standard RS-232, RS-485 ports and corresponding interface protocols.
With a highly reliable design, it ensures stable contact of components and connectors. It is shock and vibration resistant, suitable for strong electromagnetic interference environments, and can operate normally at temperatures from -25℃ to +60℃. Its insulation, voltage withstand and anti-interference performance comply with IEC international standards.

Electromagnetic Interference Resistance

2.7.1 High-frequency Interference

In accordance with GB/T 13729-1992 Clause 3.8, under standard atmospheric conditions, the device can withstand 1MHz±0.1MHz damped oscillatory interference (common mode 2.5kV, normal mode 1kV, repetition rate 400 times/s) applied to the AC power circuit while in normal operation.

2.7.2 Electrostatic Discharge Interference

The device complies with severity Level III in GB/T 15153.1-1998 Table 13, withstanding 6kV contact discharge.

10 positive and 10 negative discharges are applied to accessible surfaces at intervals ≥1s. Temporary indicator errors are allowed during testing.

2.7.3 Fast Transient Burst Interference

In accordance with GB/T 15153.1‑1998 Table 12 severity Level 3, the device can withstand 2.0kV(p) fast transient burst interference. Temporary indicator errors are allowed during testing.

Application Scope

The ASM-83 communication management unit is an important part of substation integrated automation systems, suitable for substations of 110kV and below.

It is mainly used to collect on-site information of the entire power transformation and distribution automation system, transmit data to the local background or remote dispatch master station, and send commands from the background or master station to each measurement and control device to realize local or remote control.

It can complete data exchange with bay-level equipment, protocol conversion, central signal processing and other functions.
